November Is Long-Term Care Awareness Month
This November, start a conversation with your clients about long-term care. It's not an easy conversation to have, but it can make a world of difference to your client's savings during retirement.
Approach it the same way you would most other retirement-related topics - by appealing to their pocketbooks. No one wants to think about nursing homes, so avoid leading with words that conjure up unhappy images. Instead, talk about it like a financial problem that needs to be solved, with words like "impact," "strategy," and "solution."
The goal is to help clients see long-term care insurance the same way they see life insurance. They bought life insurance because they wanted to provide for their families if something happened to them. "If" is the key word in that sentence. For clients who bought a term life policy, they know there's a chance they'll outlive their coverage. But they still believe it's worthwhile to protect their loved ones from a devastating financial impact. Long-term care insurance works the same way.
Long-term care insurance isn't about forcing a "when."
It's about considering the "if."

How to Use This Month’s Sales Kit
Use the pre-written social media posts to help raise awareness during Long-Term Care Awareness Month.
These pre-written posts from Life Happens are super-easy to use.
There's a Facebook post and a Tweet for each workday, with an additional post for each weekend. The Tweets even come pre-supplied with the hashtag #LTCI. If you search for that hashtag on Twitter this November, you can see everyone across the world who's helping to raise LTC awareness.
All the images in the pre-written posts are downloadable - just click to download, then upload the image to your favorite social media network. And don't forget - just because the longer posts are labeled "Facebook" doesn't mean you can't use them on LinkedIn and Google+, too!
Feeling creative?
You can also create your own posts using the figures and prices on the current cost of care. The first 11 pages of our kit include current prices for different types of care, along with increases and decreases over last year. Check out this post, where we go over ways to save time on social media - there's a section on fast, easy image creation tools you can use to help your posts shine!
