AIG

  • Accident & Health Product Sales Being Discontinued. Due to ongoing uncertainty in the marketplace, a challenging regulatory environment, and other business considerations, AIG has made the difficult decision to discontinue sales of its remaining Accident & Health products available through American General Life Insurance Company. Effective November 30, 2018, sales of the following A&H products will be discontinued:
    • Accident Care Direct
    • Accident Care Direct Plus
    Transition Rules: New applications must be received in the home office by Friday, November 30, 2018, and must be fully completed, signed and dated or they will be rejected. After November 30, 2018 new applications will no longer be accepted for these products. Applications received in good order on or prior to November 30, 2018 must be paid and inforce by December 28, 2018, or applications will be closed and returned. We remain fully committed to delivering exceptional service to our existing policyholders and distribution partners. There are no changes to inforce policy coverage and benefits, nor are there any changes to customer service and claims contacts.

  • Underwriting Upsell Program. More death benefit protection with no additional underwriting! When a life insurance case is approved, look for a note in approval emails from underwriting with an alternate “upsell” face amount available with no additional underwriting!   • Introducing Reprice on PL Promise Term Life Insurance. As of October 15, 2018, PL Promise Term life insurance just got more competitive. We’ve focused our improvements in the following areas: (1) The 10- and 15-year durations, all bands, ages 45-70, all classes except SNU. These improvements are focused to ensure we’re competitive in areas where our PL Smooth Sailing fluidless underwriting program (see page 2 in PDF linked above for details) is available. (2) We’ve also made some improvements in the 30-year duration, $1MM+ band, ages 30-55, all rate classes except SNU. We also continue our competitive strengths in the following areas: competitive substandard pricing (+20% per table vs. the traditional +25%), and competitive monthly premium mode (monthly premiums).The new PL Promise Term rates go into effect beginning October 15, 2018. A 60-day transition period from October 15, 2018 through December 14, 2018 is provided. (See chart on page 2 of PDF linked above.) During the transition period, a request to use the lower rates is not required and any premium received with an application using the higher rate will automatically be refunded

Symetra

  • Changes to our Accelerated Death Benefit riders on Symetra UL-G and CAUL in California only. Due to changes in California regulation, we will be suspending the sale of our optional Chronic Illness Plus Rider and making updates to our embedded Accelerated Death Benefit for Chronic Illness and Terminal Illness riders, available on our UL-G and CAUL products in CA. In order to comply with these new regulations, our current riders will not be issued after Dec. 31, 2018, and we will not be allowed to grant exceptions. Please note that there are no changes to any in-force policies or the recently announced riders on the CA version of Symetra Accumulator IUL. These changes only affect newly issued California UL-G and CAUL policies. For any pending Symetra UL-G and CAUL cases in California, we will reach out to you directly to ensure a smooth transition. Updated application packets will be available on symetra.com and iPipeline on Jan. 1, 2019. Here are the important dates and transition rules:
    • December 13, 2018: Symetra Life Illustrator and Winflex illustration systems will be updated with new language for the Accelerated Death Benefit for Terminal Illness Rider (change to 50% of the policy’s death benefit from 75%, and new rider form number) and new language for the Accelerated Death Benefit for Chronic Illness Rider (new rider form number) for Symetra UL-G and CAUL in California.
    • December 31, 2018: Symetra UL-G and CAUL California policies must be placed in-force to receive the current versions of the Accelerated Death Benefit Rider for Terminal Illness and Accelerated Death Benefit for Chronic Illness Rider.
