  • Reminder: Companion of New York Announcement. We recently announced that Companion Life Insurance Company would be temporarily suspending sales for the Term Life Answers (TLA) and our GUL, GUL Plus and GUL Survivor products in New York only. Difficult and complex business decisions like this are not easy to make and we would like to clarify that there were many factors that went into this decision. The contributing factors included market conditions, economic factors, as well as certain reserve requirements applicable to the products that were suspended. As noted earlier, we will continue to monitor these conditions and factors in an effort to bring these products back to New York in the future.

  • NEW! Important Updates to Symetra's Term Life Insurance Product. At Symetra, our goal is to offer competitive products that can help fulfill your clients’ financial needs and help you build your business. From time to time, we review our current product portfolio to ensure it remains competitive. After a recent review, we have decided to make the following changes to our term product, effective June 13, 2016:
    • Increase the maximum issue ages.
    • Increase the Accelerated Benefit Rider for Terminal Illness advance access amount from 50% to 75% ($500,000 maximum).
    • Underwrite and issue our term product on an “age nearest” basis.
    • Discontinue the inherent Safety and Transportation Benefits and optional Guaranteed Insurability Option (GIO) rider.
