  • January 2024 Rate Update. American National’s interest rates remain unchanged for January! Please see the newest rate sheets for American National and American National Insurance Company of New York for both Annuities and Life Insurance for January. Highlights include:
    • Palladium MYG-7 rate is 5.45% Guaranteed Each Year for 7 Years (for amounts $250k to $3 million, interest rate for non-NY only).
    • Palladium MYG-5 rate is 5.25% (for amounts $250k+) for all states except NY.
    • ASIA Plus Flex Index Annuity Lifetime Income Rider (LIR) Roll-Up Rate of 9.00% Compounded for 10 Years.
    • Top SPIA payouts with Palladium SPIA.

John Hancock

  • Offering Early Cancer Screening to Even More Policyholders. John Hancock is expanding access to Galleri — a multi-cancer early detection test from GRAIL — to eligible policyholders who purchased a life insurance policy from us before John Hancock Vitality was available.
  • Forms Update in South Carolina. John Hancock now has state-specific versions of the Application for Life Insurance (NB5000SC), Survivorship Supplement (NB5211SC) and Term Conversion Application (NB5037SC). If other forms are required for your South Carolina submissions, please use the US generic version (i.e., versions beginning with “NB5…”) of the applicable form. Please transition to using the South Carolina-specific forms (or US generic versions, where no state-specific option is available) within 30 days of the effective date (January 22, 2024). You can find applications and forms on JHSalesHub.com, through the form vendors we support, and in JH eApp (Note: the South Carolina state-specific forms are not yet available in iPipeline, but will automatically transition to the platform in the coming month.)
  • New Replacement Requirement in Rhode Island. To satisfy Rhode Island Life Insurance Replacement Regulations, the Replacement of Life Insurance or Annuities – Rhode Island form (NB5198RI) is now required on both internal and external replacements. With this change, the form has also been updated to capture some additional details about the replacement. Please note that there have been no changes to the Replacement of Life Insurance or Annuities – NAIC Model Regulation form (NB5011), and this is still a requirement for all replacements. The updated Replacement of Life Insurance or Annuities – Rhode Island form (NB5198RI) is effective immediately. Please transition to using it within 30 days of the effective date (January 22, 2024). You can find the updated NB5198RI on JHSalesHub.com and through the form vendors John Hancock supports. The new form will automatically transition to the digital-submission platforms in the coming weeks.

  • Upgrades to Processes and Platforms.
    • New Policy Owner Options Available: Legal & General has updated permissions to allow payors other than proposed insured and policy owner to enter the payment process. This change went into effect on December 13, 2023. Learn more here.
    • Partner Dashboard upgrade: Legal & General's traditional AppAssist and Horizon digital applications have been upgraded to provide near real-time updates. Say hello to faster statuses when visiting "My Business List."
    • Application Locked Message: A message will now appear in the event of a temporarily locked application. With enhanced clarification comes better advisor and client user experiences.

  • Now Effective: Pricing improvements for Lincoln MoneyGuard Fixed Advantage®. Effective January 22, 2024, Lincoln is implementing pricing decreases to Lincoln MoneyGuard Fixed Advantage, which improve competitive positioning. There are no pricing increases as a result of this update. MoneyGuard Fixed Advantage, a universal life insurance policy with a rider that reimburses for qualified long-term care expense, is designed to meet clients’ evolving care needs. Following a transition period, Lincoln MoneyGuard Fixed Advantage® – 01/22/24 will replace currently sold Lincoln MoneyGuard Fixed Advantage® - 09/11/23.
  • Now Effective: Pricing improvements for Lincoln MoneyGuard® II (2020). Effective January 22, 2024, Lincoln is implementing pricing decreases to Lincoln MoneyGuard II (2020), which improve competitive positioning. There are no pricing increases as a result of this update. Lincoln MoneyGuard II, a universal life insurance policy with optional long-term care benefit riders, can help safeguard clients’ assets and provide reimbursements for qualified long-term expenses. Following a transition period, Lincoln MoneyGuard II (2020) – 01/22/24 will replace currently sold Lincoln MoneyGuard II (2020)® - 09/11/22.
  • Now Effective: Automatic Notification of Premium Due and Policy Lapse Pending. Ensuring life insurance policies are kept up to date and premiums are paid on time is important for both the policyholder and Lincoln. On January 22, 2024, Lincoln will launch a new enhancement* that will automatically notify Servicing Agents of premium due and lapse pending information for permanent life insurance products, including Lincoln MoneyGuard®. This feature will be available for registered producer website users who “opt-in” to receive these notices.

  • Non-Contracted Producers Can Now Submit Life & DI Business in iGO While Contracting is in Process. Our priority is to continuously make it easier to do business with MMSD. That is why we are excited to announce that effective immediately, non-contracted producers can now submit their first Life and DI case in the iGO iPipeline submission tool before their onboarding is complete with MMSD! This means producers will be allowed to have an e-signature experience and have their contracting process take place while their case is simultaneously being reviewed by MMSD New Business & Underwriting.
  • New Year, New MassMutual DI Underwriting Enhancements. MassMutual has enhanced its business owner and executive disability income (DI) insurance underwriting programs. Additionally, they have enhanced their W-2 to 1099 contractor program so you can use income from your previous employer.

  • 12.00% Premium Deposit Account Rate for the Month of January. For the month of January, the rate on the New York Life Premium Deposit Account (PDA) is increasing to 12.00% for the first year. This first-year promotional rate is followed by 6.00% in subsequent years, when 4 or more life insurance premiums are funded through the Premium Deposit Account.

This will create a more consistent experience across our core portfolio. *Electronic signature enhancement – eSignatures will be enabled for trust - and entity-owned Worksheet submissions.   • Form Changes to Support Custom Premier II Revisions – Effective January 16, 2024. Effective Tuesday, January 16, 2024, multiple forms were introduced to support the PruLife Custom Premier II revisions, including: *Premium Deposit Account Agreement form (ORD 155304) *North Dakota and Delaware will move to the Interstate Compact version of the Accelerated Death Benefit Disclosure (BenefitAccess Rider) (ORD114462-2018_BARDisclosure-ICC). The forms are currently available on the PruXpress website and the iGo eApp.
