Optimal No-Lapse Enhancement (ONE) Rider Effective August 8, 2016, there will be a new version of the ONE Rider for use on Lincoln VULONE (2014) which will be consistent with the Allocation Requirements language in Lincoln SVULONE (2016). To address potential equity volatility exposure, the new ONE Rider language states that Lincoln reserves the right to establish future investment restrictions in the form of maximum or minimum percentages of certain subaccounts as described in the prospectus. As part of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation's review, a public hearing is being held on August 12, 2016, to allow policyholders an opportunity to express their opinions, provide a statement, or ask questions regarding the proposed rate increases. Policyholders that may be impacted by the rate increase, if approved by the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation, will receive a letter with information on the hearing. - LTC Phase 6 In-Force Rate Action on July 6, 2016. MetLife LTC to begin Phase 6 implementation of in-force rate action on July 6. Phase 6 Impacts VIP2 individual policies in New Jersey. In October 2012, we announced that we would be filing, where required, for a rate increase on our two newer individual policy series, VIP2 and LifeStage Advantage (LSA), as well as an additional rate increase on our two older individual policy series, LTC97 and VIP1, which were subject to an earlier rate increase that we announced in 2008. (Policyholders that purchased VIP2 and LSA policies with the new rate basis were not impacted). This decision was largely driven by cumulative changes in actuarial assumptions since the initial pricing of our products. We have continued to evaluate the assumptions used to price our products. Based on an in-depth analysis of our individual business, we are continuing the work we started in 2008 and 2012 as well as taking new rate action on certain VIP2 and LSA policy forms issued beginning in 2009. As we communicated in October 2015, for most product series, we have filed and will be filing for a rate increase that varies by state, depending on the level of increases that were previously approved in that state. However for the VIP2 and LSA policies under the new rate basis, no prior rate increase has been filed in any state and we have filed and will be filing for the same rate increase in every state, subject to regulatory restrictions.
- Updates on Individual Disability Insurance. As we continue toward the previously announced suspension of new Individual Disability Insurance (IDI) sales, we want to provide an update and key dates as they have been developed. As previously communicated, sales of new IDI policies will be suspended as of September 1, 2016. The last date to place issued policies is October 31, 2016.
